The Plumb Line Press  Episode 3:  The Sevenfold Spirit
John is no longer just writing—he is caught up. He is “in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day,” and what he hears behind him is not a gentle whisper but a trumpet-blast voice. What he sees next defies every flannel board and artist’s rendering: the risen Christ, radiant and untamable.

The seven lampstands aren’t props. They’re churches—real ones. And Jesus walks among them, not above them. This is not a detached God. This is Immanuel, still dwelling with His people, inspecting their light.

And in His hand? Stars. In His mouth? A sword. His face? Like the sun in full force. This is not a Jesus who can be ignored.

The imagery here draws deeply from Daniel 7 and 10—clothing of a priest, hair like wool, eyes of fire, feet like bronze. This isn’t about fashion—it’s about function. Priestly, kingly, holy, unstoppable.

But what catches the heart is this: John sees Him. He doesn’t interpret; he records. This is testimony, not imagination.

“When you think of Jesus, what do you picture—and how does it change when you read this passage?”
Draw or write your impressions. Let the imagery challenge your assumptions. If your vision of Christ has grown small, let it be corrected by the One who walks among the lampstands.

Episode 4 will take us deeper into the meaning of the right hand, the stars, and the lampstands.

“Frazzeled Angel”

In the header, a very patient (and slightly frazzled) angel stares down at earth, watching humans twist God’s Word into balloon animals no one asked for. Christianese is here to laugh, untangle, and point back to God’s truth — one “hedge of protection” at a time.
