The Plumb Line Press – Episode 4  Companion Blog: When He Touched Me

John has already fallen at Jesus’ feet “as though dead”—an overwhelming, unfiltered response to glory unveiled. But it’s what happens next that changes everything: Jesus places His right hand on him and speaks. This is not a scene of judgment; it’s one of authority, comfort, and commissioning. The words “Do not be afraid” are not a casual phrase here. They are the same words spoken to prophets, to Mary, to shepherds—always in the moments when heaven breaks into human history. Here, the Alpha and the Omega stand not just as a vision, but as a personal redeemer—one who has conquered death and holds the keys to all that terrifies us.

The symbolism comes into sharper focus:

  • The stars are messengers—angels or pastors, depending on interpretation—held securely.
  • The lampstands are the churches, meant to shine but subject to inspection.

There is both intimacy and authority in this passage. Jesus is near enough to touch but powerful enough to hold dominion over death itself.

John, who had laid his head on Christ’s chest at the Last Supper, now collapses in awe—but is raised again by the same hand that washed his feet.

“When has God touched you—and what did you stop fearing after that moment?”
Reflect on an experience that shifted your fear into faith. What truths held you steady, and where do you still need His hand?

The next episode begins the message to the churches—where comfort meets confrontation.

“Frazzeled Angel”

In the header, a very patient (and slightly frazzled) angel stares down at earth, watching humans twist God’s Word into balloon animals no one asked for. Christianese is here to laugh, untangle, and point back to God’s truth — one “hedge of protection” at a time.
