Faith That Listens

Psalms 46:10

“Be still, and know that I am God.”

Prayer is often filled with words — our needs, our worries, our gratitude. But sometimes the most powerful part of prayer is not speaking, but listening. God does not only want to hear our voices; He also longs for us to hear His.

Listening takes stillness, and stillness doesn’t come easily in a world filled with noise. Yet when we quiet our hearts, His Spirit speaks in ways that are clear, steady, and often unexpected. Faith that listens grows deeper roots, because it is not built on our own thoughts, but on the voice of the One who leads us.

A Word for Today

The next time you pray, pause before you speak. Ask God to quiet your heart and open your ears. Trust that He delights to speak to His children.

Reflection Question

How can you create space in your daily life to listen for God’s voice, not just speak to Him?

Closing Prayer

Lord,
Teach me to be still before You. Quiet the noise of my heart and the distractions around me, so I may hear Your voice. Let my faith be one that listens and responds in obedience to Your leading.
Amen.

“Frazzeled Angel”

In the header, a very patient (and slightly frazzled) angel stares down at earth, watching humans twist God’s Word into balloon animals no one asked for. Christianese is here to laugh, untangle, and point back to God’s truth — one “hedge of protection” at a time.
