Riddle One
Answer: The Revelation of Jesus Christ
Revelation 1:1 begins: “The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him…” God gave the revelation to Jesus Christ. The message was sent by His angel to John, who recorded what he saw.

Riddle Two
Answer: The written message of Revelation
It had no feet, but it traveled. It had no voice of its own, but when someone read it aloud, a room full of people could hear its words. In the first century, written messages traveled in the hands of people. Someone had to carry the manuscript to its destination.
Riddle Three
Answer: Read, hear, and keep
Revelation 1:3 names three actions: Read. Hear. Keep. The blessing is pronounced upon the one who reads, those who hear the words of the prophecy, and those who keep what is written in it.

Riddle Four
Answer: Apocalypse
The word comes from the Greek ἀποκάλυψις (apokalypsis), meaning a revelation, disclosure, or unveiling. Today, apocalypse commonly brings thoughts of catastrophe or the end of the world. John’s opening word pointed first to a revealing—something previously concealed being made known.
The Last Riddle
Answer: A manuscript or scroll
No postal service delivered John’s message to the churches. Written messages in the ancient world traveled with people. A manuscript could cross land and sea in someone’s hands. When it reached a Christian gathering, it could be read aloud so people who never touched the manuscript could still hear its words.
